Paris auctions

... and all in one city!! Februari 7th and 8th, Paris is the place to be. Three famous coachbuilt cars will be offered by two auction houses in the French capital.
Honey! Get packed! I take you to Paris!

Pininfarina Ferrari 212 Inter #0269EU/0387GT
Artcurial is offering a car we've seen at an auction before: the Ferrari 212 Inter with Berlinetta coachwork by Pininfarina that was originally owned by the late Prince Bernhard of The Netherlands. Highest bid during the last auction at the Concours d’élégance 'Het Loo' in Holland was €345,000.-. This was not enough. The current estimate according to Artcurial is €380,000.- to €420,000.-. The Dutch Prince was a bon-vivant who had a mistress in Paris, Belle Hélène, but unfortunately this 212 Inter was not the car in which he visited here.

Pininfarina Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Speciale #12925
Another interesting Ferrari offered by Artcurial is the one-off 365 GTB/4 Daytona Pininfarina Speciale, chassis #12925. With its brushed stainless steel rollbar and removable zip-out plastic rear window, it may look like a convertible, but it actually is a real coupe. Most unique feature on this car is the elongated rear end with larger boot. This unique Daytona made its debut at the 1969 Paris Autosalon. Offering the car in the same city again just feels the right thing to do.

Labourdette Bugatti T18 #474 'Black Bess'
Bonhams is pleased to announce the second "Automobiles d'Exception à Retromobile" auction at Retromobile. We are particularly pleased to see a lovely French black beauty for sale. This tiny black vintage Bugatti Type 18 with coachwork by Labourdette has a very rich history. This car was delivered new in 1913 to the pioneer French aviator Roland Garros, the first aviator to fly the Mediterranean. Miss Ivy Cummings, who used this Bugatti between 1919 and 1924 for speed hill-climbs and speed-trials, named the agile Bugatti 'Black Bess' after Dick Turpin's legendary steed. This affectionate title has stayed with the car ever since.

Well my Sweetheart... What shall we do? Shall we get the Daytona to cruise to the Mediterranean shores? Or would you like to take the Route du Soleil back home in the Royal 212 Inter? Driving Black Besse up the French Alps sounds very good also...
Well, at least we can have a very nice weekend in Paris.

I am not a natural flatterer, I like to think that I "tell it like it is", politely I hope. So when I tell you that I am very impressed by the contents of your website, it is just not English politeness. I of course love the subject matter but you deal with it in an energetic and respectful manner. I am overwhelmed by the research that has gone into compiling the list of coachbuilders/bodybuilders for Europe and North America. I have never heard of the vast majority of them. Congratulations on an excellent website.
