Description

The name "Cisitalia" derives from "Consorzio Industriale Sportive Italia," the conglomerate formed by the Cisitalia's creator, Piero Dusio, who was responsible for the 202, his stunning road-going sports car. Because of its low weight and excellent aerodynamics, the 202 had good performance. The styling came from Pinin Farina, and it stands as a timeless bridge between pre- and post-war sports car design. The unified design smoothly links the bonnet, fenders, cabin and boot into a single organic shape. Coupe versions of the 202 were the first produced. A cabriolet followed. All told, only approximately 34 convertibles are known to survive.

Pinin Farina built only one 202 Cabriolet, before production of the remaining approximately 59 cabriolets shifted over to Stabilimenti Farina and, to a lesser extent, Vignale. Both built the 202 to Battista Pinin Farina's original design, although there are some differences, like for instance Vignale's higher and more rounded bonnet, along with some minor detail and proportion changes.
