The rolling chassis (B137 JY) of this 1937 Derby Bentley 4 1/4 Liter was shipped from London to the Antwerp harbour at 12 march 1937. It was delivered to the Brussels dealership Ets. Andre Pisart. The Derby Rolls-Royce factory had the car fitted with Supralux continental headlamps, a petrol gauge in liters and a speedometer in kilometers instead of miles.
The chassis was then sold to M. Pater in Brussels. Dealer Pisart had always been very satisfied with the work of Vesters & Neirinck and they had already delivered several chassis to their workshop at the '105 Rue du Foyer de Schaerbeekois'. It was decided that B137 JY should receive a unique drophead body by V&N.
M. Pater lived only a few blocks away from Vesters & Neirinck, so it is very likely he personally walked in and out the workshop to witness the creation process of his personal car.
I am not a natural flatterer, I like to think that I "tell it like it is", politely I hope. So when I tell you that I am very impressed by the contents of your website, it is just not English politeness. I of course love the subject matter but you deal with it in an energetic and respectful manner. I am overwhelmed by the research that has gone into compiling the list of coachbuilders/bodybuilders for Europe and North America. I have never heard of the vast majority of them.
Congratulations on an excellent website.
