Below you see three, but maybe two, different Bugattis Type 40. The black and white photos show examples which were displayed at the 1926 Olympia Car Show. For unknown reasons the handwriting in the images shows '1927'. Back then, as the handwriting shows, these cars cost a 'staggering' 135 and 150 pounds.

The colored pictures of the Type 40 with chassis number 40384 show a car that is very much alike one of the cars in the black and white photos, but the fenders are not the same. The car is currently owned by Michael Gans and it is known that the previous owner, the late Tom Melahn, had fitted HRG fenders as he was a big HRG devotee.

I am not a natural flatterer, I like to think that I "tell it like it is", politely I hope. So when I tell you that I am very impressed by the contents of your website, it is just not English politeness. I of course love the subject matter but you deal with it in an energetic and respectful manner. I am overwhelmed by the research that has gone into compiling the list of coachbuilders/bodybuilders for Europe and North America. I have never heard of the vast majority of them. Congratulations on an excellent website.
