Figoni's Teardrop was first seen in 1935, and by the time the car had hit the 1936 Paris and 1937 New York auto shows, the Teardrop had made its seminal mark. It was built in one of two different designs and on varied chassis sizes. The examples with the magnificent Coupe body in this gallery are built on the longer 2.95-meter Talbot-Lago T150C Speciale chassis.
The first example built, called 'Jeancart', was named after its first owner, featuring a notchback rear end with twin cat-eye windows. Only five 'notchback' Jeancart Teardrops were built, all with many variations in details.
I am not a natural flatterer, I like to think that I "tell it like it is", politely I hope. So when I tell you that I am very impressed by the contents of your website, it is just not English politeness. I of course love the subject matter but you deal with it in an energetic and respectful manner. I am overwhelmed by the research that has gone into compiling the list of coachbuilders/bodybuilders for Europe and North America. I have never heard of the vast majority of them.
Congratulations on an excellent website.
